A Bag Full of Medals for Pakuranga Bowlers at Masters Games

Fourteen Pakuranga Bowling Club members attended the Masters Games in Dunedin, Saturday 4th to Wednesday 8th  April, competing in the lawn bowls competition.

2012 was the 4th year that members of the Club have participated in the Masters games, this year being the most successful to date.

The Team, Jill Fraser, Kelvin McMinn, Raewyn & Colin Byers, Gordon &Alison Rennie, Geoff Earle, Bob Zaloum, Sheryl Anderson, Rob Nasey, Judy Hemmingson, Joylene Young & Craig Walker returned from the games with a total of 35 medals.

The competition consisted of 5 games per day over the various disciplines at several Dunedin bowling green’s. The conditions were extremely difficult with the players having to contend with unfamiliar greens and extremely strong winds which were at times almost gale force.

Club President Jill Fraser believes that the friendly spirit that exists at the Pakuranga Bowling Club encourages the Club bowlers to not only participate in the Masters games but also all levels of bowling competitions.
