Bowls Canterbury has recently agreed to become a regional centre for the South Island, providing leadership for the sport of Bowls, promoting more player participation at every level and implementing pathways for people to become involved and progress from club to international level. The regional centre will work closely and co-operatively with the 11 centres throughout the South Island, two other Regional centres in the North Island and Bowls NZ to embrace One Bowls – One Vision format.
The Chief Executive will be charged with implementing and monitoring the strategic and regional operating plans, enabling long term sustainability and growth for the sport of bowls regionally and nationally. The role will provide strong and dynamic leadership and direction to key stakeholders, driving innovative growth opportunities and developing stable and diverse revenue streams to expand and sustain financial capabilities. A key component will also be the delivery of an effective infrastructure to maintain and support the work of the Regional centre and other South Island centres.
We welcome applications from individuals with a relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Accounting and Finance, combined with substantial experience and success working at an executive level, preferably for a sporting organisation. A track record showing strong business management, revenue generation, financial analysis & reporting, negotiations skills and collaborative external relationship management is essential. The successful individual will need to display an understanding of the sport of bowls and a genuine desire to see the sport evolve and progress.
