Vision For Coaching

"That coaching is the key to performance development at all levels"

The NZ Strategic Plan has 5 major objectives, with the development of coaching forming a significant part of Objective 2 Develop Talent.

  1. Promote and Grow the Game
  2. Develop Talent

2.1 Develop talent by ensuring there are clear pathways and opportunities to participate in our sport at every level

2.2 Foster a High Performance and coaching culture that results in success and recognition on the international stage, in both play and administration

  1. Strengthen the Structure and Provide a “State of the Art” Playing Environment.
  2. Build Organisational Capability
  3. Ensure a Financially Stable and Sustainable Future

Bowls NZ continues to have a clear and strong connection with the National Coaching Strategy developed by SPARC. The goal is to develop an athlete focussed, coach lead programme, where player and coach development is aligned. This requires a paradigm shift in our approach to coach development, and is challenging for administrators, coach educators and current coaches. The new approach is well established and accepted in the national High Performance programme.
