Want to Play Mates In Bowls (MIB)?

Maybe you've seen the orange postcards, the signage or received a promotional fax or email? Perhaps you've heard about MIB from a mate who played lawn bowls last year, or been approached by a club member?

Either way, if you're looking for the nearest club to play MATES IN BOWLS at, then you'll need to visit www.matesinbowls.co.nz for details on where/how/when you can play.

See you at the club.

Mates In Bowls - What is it?

"Mates In Bowls" or "MIB" is the national brand behind casual bowls.  The concept is to attract a target market of 20-45 year olds to a fun, 'after work' session of casual bowls, over a  4-6 week series.

What makes MIB different from other casual bowls programmes is that MIB is for new participants to the sport. The rules are relaxed and the emphasis is on having fun and that means for your club volunteers as well!

Mates In Bowls - Benefits for your Club

MIB Volunteers from Cromwell Bowling Club

The benefits for your club from being part of the national MIB programme include:

  • Having fun and a revitalisation of your Volunteer base
  • Increase your participation and potential playing membership for the club
  • Increase the number of next generation participants and members within the club with a product that attracts 25-50 year olds to the club and the sport of bowls
  • Generate another revenue stream and improve cashflow through a pay for play model
  • Generate a register of people within your community you can market to directly
  • Increase awareness of your club in the community
  • Utilise your club's facilities
  • Leverage off the national economies of scale; eg by working together we can achieve better efficiencies in advertising, printing and promotion costs
  • You can focus on your “on the green”  strengths with Bowls NZ providing guidance and assistance in the “off the green” areas eg marketing and promotion
