About Bowls New Zealand

Bowls New Zealand's vision is to be the best bowling country.  New Zealand has a long history of bowls and many of our bowling clubs throughout the country are over 100 years old. Our mission is "Bowls is enjoyable, entertaining and accessible to all New Zealanders - now and into the future".  In 2008, close to 100,000 New Zealanders played bowls either socially or as a club member.

Bowls New Zealand was formed in 1996 when the New Zealand Bowls Association and the New Zealand Women's Bowls Association amalgamated to create just one national body to govern the sport of bowls in New Zealand.

The national office is based in Penrose, Auckland, with staff placed throughout New Zealand, including five Community Development Officers who aim to promote the sport within their region.
